About Us

Our mission, as a youth basketball organization, is to provide a higher level of sports fitness training and development while providing our members the opportunity  to compete and obtain college scholarships. We focus on the education of each child in the sport of basketball but also in fundamental life skills. We value our members as both student-athletes and as contributing community members with the desire to compete at the highest level in both the classroom and on the court.

Motor City Thunder is a Metropolitan Detroit area AAU (Amateur Athletics Union) basketball program based in and operated in Southeast Michigan.  We have a total of seven boy's teams and we compete in AAU tournaments locally, regionally, and nationally in the 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U, & 15U age groups. Recognizing the enormous amount of growth potential, we are proud to service  Greater Metro Detroit, Downriver and Southeast Michigan. We are ecstatic to share our knowledge & experience with the kids from this community.

The Motor City Thunder program provides its students with tutoring and ACT/SAT workshop preparation classes. It is our goal to prepare our members to compete for tuition scholarships, both athletic & academic. We set the stage for college coaches to evaluate at our students talents by participating in NCAA sanctioned certified events. This serves our athletes as a bonus because for many of them if they didn’t play in such events, most college coaches would not have the opportunity to observe their skill set.

Motor City Thunder's coaching staff consist of experienced college & high school varsity level coaches with over 25 years of knowledge and insight between them. Our coaches are committed to our service community as we exercise our wisdom of basketball to those individuals willing to learn & accept constructive criticism. We all share the passion and desire to develop the character of young men while giving them a tool that may provide a benefit as they compete for collegiate scholarships. Most of the time the interest of our coaching staff and club members extends far beyond high school and/or even college graduation, as many of the clubs alumni frequently contact us regularly for advice and encouragement.

Using the ideology that "it takes a village to raise a child", we feel it is imperative to reach back into our community to gain the support of our local officials, business owners, neighborhood churches & community centers, as well as our families, & friends.
